Travis Perkins, has scooped Breast Cancer Campaign’s coveted ‘Corporate Partnership Innovation Award’ after raising an extraordinary £195,000 for the charity in 2013.
The company has raised money for Breast Cancer Campaign through employee fundraising throughout the year, as well as getting customers and suppliers involved, and by providing a range of pink money-raising products such as a pink wheelbarrow, which has been sold in stores nationwide.
Travis Perkins has supported Breast Cancer Campaign for the past four years, in which time it has raised nearly £800,000 overall to help the charity fund research into breast cancer.
The award was presented at Breast Cancer Campaign’s annual reception at the House of Lords on Tuesday 6 May 2014, with more than 300 guests in attendance. The event, sponsored this year by Baroness Warwick of Undercliffe, is held to recognise and thank the charity’s supporters for their outstanding achievements and dedicated support throughout the year.
James How, Regional Director and Charity Committee Chairman at Travis Perkins, said: “We’re honoured to receive this award for our fundraising efforts. Our branch and support team colleagues have had a fantastic time fundraising and involving our customers and suppliers in their efforts.
“Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer and, even though the majority of our workforce is male, many of our colleagues have been affected by the disease in some way, so we’re proud to continue our support of Breast Cancer Campaign and raise money to help the charity to fund vital research.”
Baroness Delyth Morgan, Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Campaign, said: “The dedication of our supporters is crucial to us overcoming breast cancer in the future and we are proud to recognise their achievements in this way. The passion of everyone involved in fundraising with Travis Perkins means we can continue to fund innovative research into this disease and we are incredibly grateful for the support of their staff, customers and suppliers.”
