TRAVIS PERKINS GROUP LAUNCHES UK'S FIRST ACCREDITED HEAT METER COURSE

Sustainable Building Solutions (SBS), part of the Travis Perkins Group, has launched the market’s first City and Guilds accredited Heat Meter Installing training course.

The course is offered by PPL Training – the official training partner of companies within the Group. The training course was held at the Kings Cross branch of BSS Industrial, which is also part of the Travis Perkins Group, on 21st September.

The course is aimed at engineers, contractors and installers looking to extend their knowledge of renewable heat generation systems. Practical and theory work is carried out during the half day course and, after passing a final assessment, attendees are awarded a City and Guilds accredited certification which can be used for CPD purposes.

Eimear Montague, Sustainability Development Manager for SBS, said: “It’s important for the Travis Perkins Group to ensure all installers have the training and technical support they require before the Renewable Heat Incentive is introduced in 2013.

“This course has come at just the right time following the recent announcement that heat generation payments received under the RHI scheme must be on a ‘metered’ output if the homeowner has a dual heat source. Therefore, it is imperative for installers to demonstrate competency and for merchants such as Travis Perkins Group to help them prepare.”

Lisa Wright, Category Director Technical Products for BSS Industrial said “Our customers need training in the installation of heat meters to ensure they can deliver projects that qualify for the RHI. This is just one of a number of support services that BSS can offer to its customers through our partner, Sustainable Building Solutions”.

Vincent Carter of Balfour Beatty Engineering Services Limited, attended the course and said: “The course provides a clear insight with regards to the recent Regulation updates associated with the domestic RHI scheme and provides Balfour Beatty Engineering Services with the knowledge to adequately advise its Client base of the sustainable benefits on offer to their business. In particular with the course being provided through a key supply chain partner, it enables staff to gain a clear understanding of the particular products available and their use. This gives Balfour Beatty Engineering Services a competitive edge in the market”.
