The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a mandatory energy assessment and energy saving identification scheme for large companies (and their corporate groups). The scheme applies throughout the UK.
Representatives from SBS and Travis Perkins attended a roundtable discussion last week chaired by Amber Rudd, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, DECC to discuss ESOS.
There were four key messages from the meeting: that energy efficiency needs to be a top priority of large organisations; that it is important to begin to identify opportunities for energy efficiency; that organisations will benefit by implementing processes and products to capture these savings; and that there should be a drive to share best practice across the industry.
Eimear Montague, Head of Development for SBS, said “The Travis Perkins Group is taking significant steps towards achieving energy efficiency. Carbon reduction figures submitted to the Environment Agency this year show an absolute energy reduction of 3% to the end of March 2014 . As our estate continues to grow, these figures are a great endorsement for the work done by our branch managers and colleagues in managing energy consumption.”
