The Travis Perkins Group welcomes the proposed Part L 2013 Building Regulations which were previewed at a BRE launch event on 8th October.
Paul Joyner, Group Director of Sustainability, said: “The Government has taken a pragmatic approach that balances the need to reduce carbon emissions with the need to support house-builders during the economic recovery. We know that the new standards are achievable.
"We have invested a considerable sum in technical details and internal expertise over the last two years to enable us to help house-builders cost-effectively build to the level required by the new regulations. Our thermally-modelled Code 4 new-build standard construction drawings are a great tool to help house-builders build better and save money."
The Part L 2013 documentation will require new homes to generate 6% less CO2 across the build mix from April 2014, compared with standards introduced in 2010. New non-domestic buildings will need to reduce CO2 emissions by a further 9%.
The final Approved Documents and Compliance Guides will be released in the week commencing 21 October 2013.
