UK households signed up for around £2.25m of energy efficiency improvements last week, according to new figures from the government-backed Green Deal Finance Company (GDFC).
The organisation hailed the week ending April 18 as its best ever, with applications from more than 650 households for Green Deal plans, which comprise loans to cover the upfront cost of fitting measures such as insulation or green energy generation.
Over £45.6m worth of improvements have either been carried out or are in progress since the Green Deal scheme was established in 2013, with 12,900 plans now in the GDFC system and £71m in credit handed out to its 64 Green Deal providers, the majority of which are small and medium-sized companies.
"Green Deal finance plans are providing consumers with choice in how to finance their home energy improvements. That choice and our widely accessible finance have got to be a good thing."
